Welcome to MTEC, a non-profit organization founded to increase the number of quality teachers in Milwaukee. MTEC offers an alternative teacher certification program for those interested in education, and professional development workshops and advanced study opportunities for current teachers.

  • July 16, 2010 On the Move . . . again
    The MTEC office has a new home in the Sarah Scott building located at 1017 N. 12th St. MTEC staff can be reached by phone (414-342-1569), fax (414-342-1577) or by email. The main entrance is on the 12th St. side of the building, just a little south of Highland Blvd.

    MTEC looks forward to joining others involved in professional development at the new site.
  • January 6, 2010 MTEC/Lakeland College Plan To License Teachers in Non-MPS Schools
    Today MTEC/Lakeland College announced plans to offer its certification program to teachers currently working in Choice, Charter, Religious and Private schools as well as other public school districts in Wisconsin.

    MTEC has been a proven leader in teacher certification since 1996 and is eager to expand its DPI approved program beyond Milwaukee's Public Schools. Information sessions will be scheduled to describe the program design, the application process, program requirements and expectations.

  • December 2, 2009 Nine MTEC graduates win Teacher EXCEL Grants
    MTEC congratulates nine of its graduates and students who won EXCEL Grants for the 2009 – 2010 school year. They will receive grants totaling $5,595 to fund school and classroom based projects. The MTEC grantees include: David Galarza, Ann Nelson, Carolyn Joubert, Theresa Schwantes, Jane Wall, Jessica Bahr, Heidi Miller, Alisa Nelson and Julie Resash. EXCEL Teacher Grants are awarded by the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation. The Foundation is supported by donations through the Employee Combined Giving Campaign and contributions made in the memory of Ann Shansky, a former MPS elementary school teacher.
  • November 23, 2009 Waukesha Schools embrace MTEC concept
    MTEC continues to lead the way in alternative teacher certification with highly motivated and capable teacher candidates. MTEC serves Milwaukee as well as other school districts in southeastern Wisconsin. ( Read the Journal Sentinel Article )
  • September 18, 2009 MTEC Places 75 Interns In Milwaukee Classrooms
    MTEC has successfully placed 75 teaching interns in Milwaukee classrooms for the 2009 - 2010 school year. They serve children in over 50 schools and provide service to bilingual and special education students as well as instruction in math and science.
