Our Purpose

MTEC is a not-for-profit results-oriented teacher preparation and professional development center designed to increase the quality of teaching in urban settings. MTEC's goal is to create a cadre of highly qualified teachers who are committed to, connect with and make a career of serving Milwaukee's children. To this end MTEC

• Provides a teacher certification path for bachelor degreed professionals with the passion and fire to teach urban youth.
• Works alongside districts, schools and teachers to develop and implement professional development plans that improve classroom practices
• Provides educators with a practical option for earning a Master's in Education degree through classroom based action research

Guiding Principles/Beliefs

• The business of education is a people business that relies upon a skilled cadre of teachers who build relationships with students and their families in order to facilitate learning
• To be successful MTEC staff and students must be relentless and tenacious in advocating for children
• MTEC customers and students deserve the highest level of professional practice from all MTEC staff
• Teachers benefit the most from professional development under the guidance of a trained professional who can coach the newly learned skill into practice
• Our generation will be judged upon how well we prepared our children
