  • Special Education Teacher Intern

Special Education teachers are needed for the 2012 - 2013 school year. Special Education teacher interns are paid at the teacher rate in effect at the school or district where the intern is employed. Qualified applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.50.

Special Education teachers may be assigned to an elementary, middle or high school. The number of classes and the length of each are determined by the school or district in which the intern is employed. In many elementary classrooms the special education teacher will teach all of the basic subjects.

It is common for special education students to be grouped based on the severity of their disability. In classrooms with severely affected children, the special education teacher is often the primary teacher for those children throughout the day. In classrooms with less severely affected children, the special education teacher may share the teaching responsibilities with another teacher and in some circumstances may "team teach" with another teacher.
