Pre-Admission Requirements
- Attend an information session and receive an application packet
- Submit the Supplementary Applicant Information form and Evaluation Feedback form
- Submit the MTEC Application along with the application fee
Admission Requirements
- Applicants from outside the USA must possess a visa and work authorization card.
- Applicants for bilingual positions must pass a bilingual language assessment.
- Each applicant must submit 4 original transcripts from each college where credits were earned toward a bachelor's degree. Copies of transcripts will not be accepted. If the degree is not from an-accredited international university, the transcripts must be evaluated by the Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.
- Applicants must submit the name of a supervisor(s) who can verify a successful experience working with urban youth per the Urban Experience Verification narrative.
- Each applicant must submit three (3) letters of recommendations. It is advantageous for the applicant to include recommendations from those who have first hand knowledge of the applicants work with urban youth.
- Students must submit passing scores on the reading, math and writing subtests of the Praxis I before being accepted into the program.
- Upon completion of the above, each candidate will complete a face to face interview.
Students who successfully complete all of the requirements are offered admission to the program. After acceptance into the program students must:
- Apply for a Wisconsin Emergency Teaching license (license application fee required)
- Complete the Milwaukee Public Schools application process (criminal background check, physical and teacher insight assessment).
